The Hudson Montessori School library's purpose is to help support our schools mission "to foster a Montessori educational environment conducive to each child's unique qualities and abilities for the development of social, emotional, and reasoning skills that are essential for a lifetime of independent, creative thinking and learning in the world community."
Our library helps students establish a foundation for information literacy, lifelong learning and citizenship. We provide print and electronic resources to support the curriculum and to satisfy students’ educational needs, personal interests, and literature preferences. We love to see students come to browse, read, study, or work at a computer. We want students to develop habits of inquiry, so we provide intellectual and physical access to information and collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate information and media literacy skills with curriculum content. Students in the 21st century need to be able to locate, evaluate and use information and ideas in a variety of formats to be successful learners. Hudson Montessori School's library will soon be automated through INFOhio, which provides students and teachers with a web-based library catalog. INFOhio also provides a collection of reliable and up-to-date resources on many subjects for all age groups from commercial databases and other resources which include large, organized collections of maps, pictures, charts; homework help; test taking strategies; full-text magazine and newspaper articles and online encyclopedias and dictionaries in English and Spanish. |
