Margaret Peterson Haddix fans will be happy to know that the library was able to purchase the entire 7 book Shadow Children series!  Thanks to parent, student, grandparent, and other HMS community members' support of last year's book fair, we earned funds from Scholatic Books to purchase  these new books and several others for our library!  Thanks for your support of our school!

Twelve year old Luke lives in a future world where laws strictly prohibit families from having more than 2 children.  Third children are known as "shadow children" and are forced by the Population Police to live their lives in hiding.  No playing outside, no visiting at a friend's house, no trips to a store, baseball game, or amusement park for these illegal third children.  Instead, life is lived in constant fear of being discovered.  But things change for Luke when he discovers another "shadow child" has moved in next door.

If you liked The Hunger Games and Divergent, chances are this is a book for you.  This is the first of a three part trilogy by James Dashner about a group of teens who find themselves in a place called The Glade, surrounded by an enormous stone walled maze.  Their memories have been wiped clean.  They have no idea why they are there, or how to get out.  Every night, the huge walls close to protect the teens from what's "out there" in the maze.  Every day the maze runners work their way through the maze trying to find a way out.
